From what I've read on this forum, I get the impression that coolant life is age-bound. At the rate I'm driving the coolant will be over 10 years old by 100K miles. Recommended replacement schedule is first at 100K miles then subsequent changes at 60K miles. For vehicles filled with Super Long Life Coolant at the plant, it is highly recommended that Super Long Life Coolant be used for maintenance. The Tacoma with 1GRFE V6 engine uses Toyota's long life coolant. Genuine TOYOTA Pre-mixed Anti-rust Anti-freeza/Super Long life Coolant is a new generation ethylene glycol-based premium engine coolant, offering excellent corrosion protection formulated specifically for all TOYOTA engines (freeze-ups to -37C) and meets all TOYOTA warranty requirements. Many OEMs will substitute alternate coolants. This is recommended by Toyota, they would though. Coolant colors from individual manufacturers can vary widely. Any product that can meet these requirement can be a good.

Toyota Super Long Life Coolant has been specifically designed and tested to ensure that it will not cause corrosion nor result in malfunction of the engine coolant system with proper usage in Toyota vehicles. 
Toyota Genuine Super Long Life Coolant (SLLC) is a high quality ethylene glycol based non-silicate, non-amine, non-nitrate and non-borate coolant with long life hybrid organic acid technology. In order to avoid technical problems, only use Toyota Super Long Life Coolant.
